The stewards found that Verstappen had breached the yellow-flag regulation, but accepted that he had lifted significantly and that avoiding the pass would have required heavy braking because Hamilton had slowed dramatically. No penalty was issued, so Max keeps pole. ⚫ F1 NEWS: ANTONELLI WORRIED BY MERCEDES UPGRADE Kimi Antonelli qualified only seventh in both FP1 and Sprint Qualifying with Mercedes’ newer specification, while George Russell put the older-spec car on the front row. Antonelli says the upgraded W17 is difficult, unpredictable and hard to put a lap together with. He admitted he cannot currently see where the gap to the front will come from. 🔴 F1 NEWS: HAMILTON OWNS FERRARI SQ3 CALL Ferrari looked competitive through SQ1 and SQ2, but Lewis Hamilton ended Sprint Qualifying sixth after choosing a different run plan for SQ3. Hamilton admitted the strategy was his choice and said Ferrari got it wrong. He also reported heavy oversteer and a lack of rear grip on the soft tyre, while Charles Leclerc qualified third. 🔵 F1 NEWS: HADJAR’S RED BULL “UNDRIVEABLE” Isack Hadjar was left confused by a dramatic loss of performance in Sprint Qualifying after looking far more competitive earlier in FP1. He complained of bottoming and then struggled badly on the medium tyre, leaving him unable to explain why the RB22 had become so difficult to drive. ⚠️ F1 NEWS: FIA ERROR HITS SPRINT QUALIFYING An FIA settings error after the SQ1 red flag meant some drivers did not receive full qualifying energy deployment on their final runs. Several cars were left with normal race deployment instead of maximum qualifying power. The issue immediately raised questions over sporting fairness after another software-related problem in 2026. 👇 JOIN THE F1 DEBATE Should Verstappen have been penalised?
